The space between the making and the seeing.

What we do

We sit with an artist for as long as the work takes, and we publish the record three ways at once.

A director films one working session. A photographer shoots the whole roll and shows the sheet, not only the chosen frame. An essayist writes what neither of those could carry. Nothing goes out until all three are finished, because a single record of a person’s work is an opinion, and three is a description.

Who we film

Artists anywhere, with our attention on the African continent and the people who carry its practices elsewhere. A weaver in Ìbàdàn, a dyer in Saint-Louis, a printmaker in Johannesburg, a potter in Oaxaca. We are interested in the hours, not the reputation.
